Welcome to the Audi F1 Project.  
 
 Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.  
 
The new team has three locations. Audi's Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Sauber Motorsport Technical Center, UK will be operational this year. Our Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations. 
 
What you need? The mindset of an athlete. If you are someone for whom giving up isn’t an option and limits are just something to be overcome, you can bring Vorsprung durch Technik to Formula 1 with us. Become part of this unique project and make motorsport history. 

If you would like to develop state-of-the-art numerical simulation and optimization tools and build software used to enhance car performance at every race, this internship might be the one for you.

This is a 6- or 12-month internship starting in January or Februrary 2026.
  
 This position for the Audi F1 Project is at Sauber in Hinwil (Switzerland).
Your mission
  • Develop and implement advanced data analytics and machine learning solutions to support performance optimization across the car and race operations
  • Transform complex datasets into actionable engineering insights to guide technical decision-making
  • Model complex systems and real-world dynamics using statistical, mathematical, and simulation-based methods
  • Improve computational performance and scalability of existing tools and workflows
  • Package, deploy, and maintain analytical solutions as robust, reusable software components and APIs
  • Communicate results clearly to engineers and key stakeholders
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement of software systems
Your profile
  • Currently enrolled in a Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field
  • Solid programming experience in Python (C/C++, C# is a plus)
  • Strong understanding of machine learning and deep learning concepts, data preprocessing and feature engineering
  • Familiarity with software engineering principles such as object-oriented programming, version control, containerization, and/or DevOps workflows is beneficial 
  • Basic knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases ia s plus but not required
  • Interest or basic understanding of aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics, or motorsport technology is a plus but not required
  • Highly motivated team player with a proactive and creative mindset
  • Analytical, pragmatic, and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Fluency in English
