Join the Audi F1 Project - Shape the Future of Motorsport!
Welcome to the Audi F1 Project.

Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.

The new team has two locations. Audi's Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations. The planned takeover by AUDI AG turns two teams into a factory team – and you can be part of it.

What you need? The mindset of an athlete. If you are someone for whom giving up isn’t an option and limits are just something to be overcome, you can bring Vorsprung durch Technik to Formula 1 with us. Become part of this unique project and make motorsport history.

If you would like to develop state-of-the-art multiphysics and data-driven models for our Formula 1 digital twin and learn how to regress multivariate models using telemetry data from our Formula 1 cars, this internship might be the one for you. This is a 6 or 12 month internship starting in January of February 2026.

The position for the Audi F1 Project is at Sauber in Hinwil (Switzerland).
Your mission
  • Develop the hybrid multiphysics/data-driven models of our digital twin (e.g., tyres, suspension, powertrain, and aerodynamics)
  • Implement state-of-the-art simulation and optimization methodologies
  • Develop, implement, and employ advanced model correlation algorithms and tools
  • Contribute to the development of telemetry data analysis tools
  • Review, test, and document new model updates
Your profile
  • Master’s or PhD student in Engineering (Mechanical, Nuclear, Robotics, Systems, Control), Physics, or related field.
  • Programming experience in C/C++ (Matlab or Python is a plus)
  • Strong understanding of physical modelling concepts and principles such as thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, physical mechanics, rigid- and multi-body dynamics, and correlation methods
  • Knowledge of numerical modelling and simulation methods
  • Prior understanding of vehicle systems and vehicle dynamics would be beneficial
  • Team player, highly self-motivated, pro-active, creative
  • Pragmatic, analytical, and result-oriented with a high attention to detail
  • Strong English (verbal and written) language skills
