 Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.  
 
The new team has three locations. The Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. Audi's Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. We have recently opened Sauber Motorsport Technology Center in the UK. Our Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations with support from the UK.

This position for the Audi F1 Project is at Sauber in Hinwil (Switzerland).
Your mission
  • Lead and manage the Race Team Mechanics/Technicians at the track.
  • Conduct weekly reviews with Crew Chiefs, Race Team Support, Composite Leads, and Garage Technicians.
  • Take over car preparation from the Factory Chief Mechanic starting Wednesday before race events.
  • Perform annual performance reviews for all Race Team Mechanics and Technicians.
  • Train and develop pit stop crew members; implement new techniques and processes.
  • Lead the car crew during in-session issues or reliability incidents.
  • Attend and contribute to key technical meetings.
  • Attend all pre-session and post-session briefings.
  • Coordinate with external and Hinwil departments on service intervals and planning.
  • Oversee pit equipment maintenance (delegated as needed).
  • Ensure all updates, reminders, and SOPs are followed, especially on race weekends.
  • Responsible for broken parts management, working with Lifing Coordinator and Spares.
  • Ensure expenditures align with seasonal targets and provide input for operational cost management.
Your profile
  • Proven experience in a senior mechanical role within a Formula 1 or equivalent high-level motorsport environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills. 
  • High technical proficiency in car build, diagnostics, reliability, and garage operations.
  • Deep understanding of FIA regulations and F1 operational structures.
  • Ability to work effectively under extreme pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving mindset.
  • Team player with a collaborative, proactive attitude.
  • Confident in representing the team to senior management and external media when required.
  • Brings a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to day-to-day challenges.
  • Demonstrates a strong team mindset and commitment to collective goals.
  • Actively participates in and encourages team gym sessions held at the factory.
  • Proactively contributes new ideas and follows them through with conviction.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Actively participate in all mandatory physical, mental, and procedural training.
  • Maintain a clean and structured working environment.
  • Be an active and reliable member of the pit stop crew.
  • Support team members both at the factory and on the road.
  • Embrace and promote a zero-mistake culture.
  • Be open to special assignments and support beyond the core job scope as required.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
