Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026. 
 
The new team has two locations. Audi's Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations. The planned takeover by AUDI AG turns two teams into a factory team – and you can be part of it.

The position for the Audi F1 Project is at Sauber in Hinwil (Switzerland).
Your mission
  • Lead the team responsible for the development, operation and maintenance of driver-in-loop simulators as an integral part of the DIL simulator group
  • Plan and execute development projects to improve and enhance the fidelity, realism, functionality and performance of the simulator
  • Drive the design and development of motion cueing and other driver feedback systems
  • Develop and manage simulator peripheral systems, e.g. audio and visual systems, cockpit environments, motion cueing, data analysis tools.
  • Contribute to and drive tool and methodology development to ensure alignment with other simulation models and tools
  • Work with colleague engineering teams to prepare and perform experiments and tests in the simulator, including model development and system integration
  • Support simulator test sessions (including race support activities) as required
  • Support collaborative activities in the wider Simulator and Vehicle Performance teams
Your profile
  • High quality degree (Master or PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics)
  • Previous management or team leadership experience is an advantage
  • Extensive experience in the field of simulator engineering (emphasis on simulator development) with relevant experience in F1 or another high-level motorsport an advantage
  • Proven expertise in simulation, including real-time applications & ideally in automotive and/or motorsport domains
  • Experience in system modelling with expert level competence in several of the following tools: MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C++, C#
  • Highly self-motivated and results-oriented 
  • Able to motivate and guide a team 
  • High attention to detail, pragmatic but with a scientific approach
  • Full professional proficiency in German or English and a willingness to learn a basic level in the corresponding other language are prerequisites

Bring experience to a young and talented team of vehicle dynamicists focusing on pre-event preparations and in-event support from the remote garage.

Deine Aufgabe
  • Leitung des Teams, das für die Entwicklung, den Betrieb und die Wartung von Fahrer-in-the-Loop (DIL) Simulatoren als integraler Bestandteil der DIL-Simulatorgruppe verantwortlich ist
  • Planung und Umsetzung von Entwicklungsprojekten zur Verbesserung der Genauigkeit, Realitätsnähe, Funktionalität und Leistungsfähigkeit des Simulators
  • Steuerung der Entwicklung von Motion-Cueing-Systemen sowie weiterer Fahrer-Feedback-Systeme
  • Entwicklung und Verwaltung von Simulator-Peripheriesystemen, einschliesslich Audio- und Videosystemen, Cockpit-Umgebungen, Motion-Cueing-Systemen und Datenanalyse-Tools
  • Mitgestaltung und Weiterentwicklung von Simulationsmethoden und -werkzeugen zur Sicherstellung der Kompatibilität mit anderen Simulationsmodellen und Tools
  • Zusammenarbeit mit Ingenieurteams zur Vorbereitung und Durchführung von Experimenten und Tests im Simulator, einschliesslich Modellentwicklung und Systemintegration
  • Unterstützung von Simulator-Test-Sessions, einschliesslich Rennsupport-Aktivitäten, nach Bedarf
  • Mitwirkung an bereichsübergreifenden Projekten innerhalb des Simulator- und Fahrzeug-Performance-Teams
Dein Profil
  • Exzellenter Hochschulabschluss (Master oder PhD) in einer relevanten wissenschaftlichen Disziplin (Maschinenbau, Fahrzeugtechnik, Mechatronik, Informatik, Physik, Mathematik)
  • Führungserfahrung oder Erfahrung im Management eines Teams von Vorteil
  • Umfangreiche Erfahrung im Bereich der Simulatorentwicklung, idealerweise mit Bezug zum F1- oder High-Level-Motorsport
  • Fundierte Expertise im Bereich Simulation, insbesondere Echtzeitanwendungen, vorzugsweise im Automobil- oder Motorsportumfeld
  • Erfahrung in der Systemmodellierung mit Expertenkenntnissen in mehreren der folgenden Tools: MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C++, C#
  • Hohe Eigenmotivation und ausgeprägte Ergebnisorientierung
  • Fähigkeit, ein Team zu motivieren und zu führen
  • Hohes Mass an Detailgenauigkeit, pragmatischer, aber wissenschaftlicher Ansatz
  • Verhandlungssichere Deutsch- oder Englischkenntnisse sowie die Bereitschaft Grundkenntnisse in der jeweils anderen Sprache zu erlernen sind Voraussetzung
